NaNoWriMo- Day 9

9 Nov

Daily Word Count: 3,202

Total Word Count: 28,530

How I’m feeling: I’m getting nervous. I thought my plot was going too slowly so I sped it up and I think I may have sped it up too much. I only have two major plot points left after the huge one I’m writing now, and then probably about 5,000 words of resolution and epilogue. I have two scenes I can go back and re-write if I have to, but I don’t want to have to.

What I’ll do with the rest of my day: A good friend from high school is in town this weekend and my husband and I are going to a gathering to see him. I’m kind of really excited.

How’s the pacing going for your story? Do you think you’ll end around 50,000? Let me know, Reader!

Until next time, write on.

At the rate I’m going per chapter, I think my novel is going to end around 42,000. That makes me nervous. I’ve come up with a few more chapters to add if I need to, but I’m not looking forward to them. And I thought about going back and beefing up some chapters, but that makes me terrified. I haven’t gone back and re-read anything I’ve written yet, and I’m worried if I start now I’ll get stuck in the throes of editing and doubting all of it. What’s a girl to do?! Here’s to hoping we can both escape the week two wall!

Best of luck to you! I wrote today like I needed to stretch out each scene to it’s longest. I added in details I wouldn’t have done normally and it helped me feel like I can finish the 50,000 without going back. I’m lucky to have made the mistake of forgetting the holidays so adding those scenes in could help take me over 50K. They won’t be fun or particuarly eventful, but they will be at least 2K each!
