Presenting the 2015 ‘When Are You Reading?’ Challenge!

19 Dec

when are you reading 2015

Oh yes, Reader. It’s that time of year again. I’m excited to announce the 2015 When Are You Reading? Challenge. I’m only altering this challenge slightly from how I ran it last year. Here are the time periods:

  • Pre 1500
  • 1500-1599
  • 1600-1699
  • 1700-1799
  • 1800-1899
  • 1900-1919
  • 1920-1939
  • 1940-1959
  • 1960-1979
  • 1980-1999
  • 2000-Present
  • Future

So that’s 12 time periods, one less than the 2014 challenge and slightly rearranged. I think it will a bit easier this time around because 1890-1909 was a struggle last year!

How it works:
Well, I’m not big on rules when it comes to voluntary challenges. You can do this however you like and you can count a book where ever you think it goes best. You can track it on a page or on a Timetoast timeline or both, whatever you want to do. Heck, don’t track it at all!

I’m putting up a page here and if you’re going to participate, I’ll link to your tracking page (should you decide to have one). For winning, you get a virtual high-five so the stakes are high.

I had a lot of fun learning about world history doing this last year and challenging myself to find books with unique settings. I don’t think I would have read about the Arizona territories in the late 1800s or the building of the Taj Mahal in the 1600s if I wasn’t participating in this challenge. I hope everyone can find it as enjoyable.

Who’s in?

I love the idea of this, think I will try and give it a shot, not promising anything though.

I’m really liking your book reviews! Some of your choices have been on my to-read list for awhile now, like the Barbara Kingsolver one (I loved Poisonwood Bible), John Green (his YouTube channel is awesome) and Nancy Turner (These is My Words is sitting on my shelf). Back in a few, must read more of your reviews. I write reviews sometimes too 🙂
