Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at Should be Reading and revived here on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Currently reading: I’ve put Harry Potter y el misterio del príncipe (Half-Blood Prince) by J.K. Rowling on hold for a minute while I work on my book club selection. I’m hoping to jump back on it soon, though. I miss the story in light of the Cursed Child news!
Not sure what’s going on with Slaughterhouse-Five by Kurt Vonnegut. I wasn’t expecting aliens, to be honest with you. Are they going to be here the whole time?
I was able to listen to a bit of A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin while on vacation. It was something to listen to while I did my workouts and my husband slept. It’s still enjoyable, but I feel a build to a war that I wish I could jump to because it sounds like a good plot point.
I’m really enjoying Shanghai Girls by Lisa See. This was a good book to bring with me on vacation and I got through about 200 pages of it while I was gone which is really impressive with how tired I was most of the time we were there. I think 95% of that reading was done on the planes. I passed out from exhaustion at night.
Recently finished: Again, nothing. I’m hoping Shanghai Girls will be here next week. Fingers crossed!
I did manage to get a review up for you all. Many of you were interested in Bellwether so go check out my review to see how much I liked it (4 out of 5 stars).
Reading Next: I’ve got a while before another book club selection grabs me so I’m going to get back to Harry. Then I’ve got a Mindy Kaling book on my shelf I think will be a quick read, Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? Then I’ll try some of my TBR books that I have to get from the library. I skip over those a lot but I want to read them, too!
Leave a comment with your link and a comment (if you’re so inclined). Take a look at the other participant links in the comments and look at what others are reading.
Have any opinions on these choices?
Until next time, write on.
You can follow me on Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. I’m available via email at SamAStevensWriter@gmail.com. And as always, feel free to leave a comment!
Off to read your review of Bellweather which I am interested in. Here is my Wednesday post for this week https://cleopatralovesbooks.wordpress.com/2016/02/24/this-week-in-books-february-24/

Love the variety in your choices! I must admit I didn’t think Slaughterhouse 5 was about aliens, funny how we make assumptions about books we haven’t read 😉

I had no idea about the aliens either. It came completely out of left field. I’m hoping it moves on to something else soon, to be honest. Happy Wednesday!

Wait… there are aliens in Slaughterhouse 5?! I was avoiding it because I thought it was another dull classic I wouldn’t be able to make it through but now I am somewhat intrigued….

I tend to skip over my TBR books as well. I’ve got a nice small pile at home now and will try to read those before buying any more, but I doubt I’ll be strong enough to withstand the appeal of new books. Not that there’s anything wrong with that…
I love how different all your choices are! I read Harry Potter many years ago but haven’t read the others.

Mindy’s book is on my TBR too, I’d be interesting in reading your thoughts about it. I didn’t enjoy reading G.R.R Martin’s books but I didn’t want to give up after only a few chapters, so I had tried listening to it, hoping it’d get better later but nothing worked. The writing style was just not for me.

Whenever I make a TBR list of books I want to read, I end up not being in the mood for them and skipping them. Everything else looks so much more appealing, lol.

I hope you have a great day!

Lol. It’s funny how that works. The best “motivator” I have found is creating a TBR jar and then committing to the one you pick that month. Still, easier said than done!

I have a TBR jar, but I can never commit to the one I pick LOL! I always repick and repick until I get something I want.

I can understand! Sometimes I need a heavy read or a mystery or a comedy or non-fiction etc. I try to stick to the list, but it doesn’t always work. Happy Wednesday!

The aliens are a continuous flashback (flashforward?) In Slaughterhouse-Five. They never hit earth, but he visits them a handful of times. Hope you’re having a wonderful week 🙂

Ehh, I think the aliens are just there to introduce the concept that time is not linear. I’m not exactly a fan of the book tbh.

Here’s my link. https://authorswilliams.wordpress.com/2016/02/25/www-wednesday-2/ So what do you think of Harry Potter? I have heard from other author friends that they had no idea it was written in such passive tense. Just curious. I notice a lot of YA books geared toward the younger side are sometimes much more passive than NA or adult oriented books. Also, I could never get into Slaughterhouse Five lol.
LikeLike
The past tense doesn’t bother me. I prefer it to present tense books which tend to distract me. I love Potter and I’ve grown up with the series so I’m a bit biased. Happy Thursday!
