Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at Should be Reading and revived here on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Note: For users of Blogspot blogs, I’m unable to comment on your posts as a WordPress blogger unless you’ve enabled Name/URL comments. This is a known WordPress/Blogspot issue. Please consider enabling this to participate more fully in the community.
Currently reading: I’m finally getting back to Harry Potter y el misterio del príncipe (Half-Blood Prince) by J.K. Rowling and it feels so good! I’m not sure how long it will take for me to finish this, but I’ll enjoy the ride.
I made small progress with In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson again. I’m at about 20% but I’ll get there to be sure. It might take a while, though.
My audiobook now is The Art of Asking by Amanda Palmer. It’s nice for runs because music from her band will randomly come on during it but the narration is a bit quiet which is frustrating when I have to play with the volume so much.
Recently finished: I finished A Clash of Kings by George R.R. Martin! I’m glad I finished it and I honestly don’t think I’ll get to the next book anytime soon. I felt this one was a lot less exciting than the first book. I dunno. I’ll get to it eventually, but I’m not sure when.
I flew through The Virgin Blue by Tracey Chevalier. The book was a bit more magical than her others books have been, but I still enjoyed it a lot. I’m excited to discuss this one with the book club. I’ve volunteered to lead the discussion.
Reading Next: I’m posting about this tomorrow, but my friend Kristine Kruppa released a book last week and I plan to read it next. It’s called 27 Days to Midnight and I’m really looking forward to reading it!
Leave a comment with your link and a comment (if you’re so inclined). Take a look at the other participant links in the comments and look at what others are reading.

Ah the audio books didn’t consider the change in volume by the sounds of things for The Art of Asking – which I must say sounds appealing apart from that. Here is my Wednesday post https://cleopatralovesbooks.wordpress.com/2016/05/11/this-week-in-books-may-11/

Yeah, she’s not a vocal actor even though she’s a singer and the sound mixer didn’t make up for it by balancing the volume well. Oh well. It’s interesting to say the least. Happy Wednesday!

I think I’m sticking to the GoT show rather than attempting the book any time soon as I’m loving the new series.
I do have a new audiobook this week which is truly awful but in a really good way. Here’s my WWW:

I found that the Game of Thrones books gradually became less interesting/exciting as they progressed. I do wonder if Martin knows this and it’s one reason why it’s proving so difficult for him to write the next one.
I’m really glad you enjoyed The Virgin Blue. Chevalier comes through again! 🙂
I hope you enjoy your friend’s book. It sounds great and that cover is lovely.

I wonder if Martin has less editing to do because some people will read anything he writes! Haha. Happy Wednesday!

I know what you mean about having to fiddle around with the volume. I often walk from my workplace into the city in the afternoons rather than catching the bus, but it requires walking over a bridge that gets a lot of heavy traffic, and getting the volume right in that situation is really frustrating!

Your comment about Virgin Blue got me wondering: Would you be as eager to lead the book club discussion if it was a book you hated? Do your passionate feelings have to be positive for you to be anxious to discuss the book?
Here’s my list: Two good ones and a bust.

Ooh Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince was seriously epic! Especially the final chapters! Nothing like the movie. I really hope you’ll enjoy it as much I did! And I’ve been meaning to read A Clash of Kings for like forever but I don’t think it’s gonna happen any time sooner. These books are all huge!

I know the feeling! I originally read the books in Greek because that’s my language but last year I decided to buy and read the English editions as well and it was like reading completely different books!

Glad you’re finally back to Harry Potter. 🙂 Too bad about the volume on your audio book. And yay you got through the second ASoIaF book! Those books are not short, so congratulations. 27 Days to Midnight is also on my TBR but first I have to get through the books I have out from the library.

The first A Song Of Ice And Fire book is still my favorite as well. It’s not that the story isn’t interesting in the sequels, but the pace is so slow that it takes me ages to actually finish one… It’s been a long time since I finished the fourth book and even though I have a copy of the fifth, I haven’t been feeling like picking it up so far for that exact reason. And I’m glad you’re back to Harry Potter! I’m hoping to start my Spanish reread some time this month as well.

I quit reading The Son of Fire and Ice series after the second book because, well, there are so many other books out there I want to read. Martin’s books just require a significant amount of my reading time. And since there is the tv show I can watch it. My brother who read the series is a bit confused by my decision! Oh, well.

Have you read the Song of Ice and Fire series before? “Clash” was alright, but book #3 “Storm of Swords” is the best of the series in my opinion. It’s a looooooonng audio book though!

I don’t think it’s too different. They had to change some things so the I AM LORD VOLDEMORT thing worked in Spanish. So his last name is Ryddle for example. Other than that, it’s pretty straight forward. Happy Wednesday!

A Clash of Kings was definitely lackluster compared to A Game of Thrones. By my recollection, A Storm of Swords (the 3rd book) was far better!

What do you think you’ll read next? I’m trying to get going reading Outlander for the 3rd or 4th time, love it. And I want to re-read the whole series again so I can read the 8th book, which I haven’t read yet- “Written in My Own Heart’s Blood” by Diana Gabaldon.
