Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived here on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

IceCreamCurrently reading: Nothing with In the Garden of Beasts by Erik Larson. There hasn’t been much time when I’m just sitting around lately. My semester is getting crazy and it will be a while before I have any calmness again.
I’m about 2/3 of the way through 27 Days to Midnight by Kristine Kruppa, I wanted to finish it over the weekend but this was a busy one for me. I’ll try to get through it before my post next week.
I started a new audiobook, The Ice Cream Queen of Orchard Street by Susan Jane Gilman. I forget who recommended this one to me but I have no doubt it’s because I love historical fiction. I was hesitant when I heard the author narrated it herself, but she’s been doing a great job.

DiscipleRecently finished: I finished The Unlikely Disciple by Kevin Roose late last Wednesday. I really enjoyed this book and Roose’s style. He reminds me of A.J. Jacobs, who he trained under and who is one of my favorite writers. It was a treat of a book. My review will be up tomorrow.

I posted my review of Harry Potter y el misterio del principe on Monday. There’s not a lot to be said about this book that hasn’t been said already but pop on over and let me know how much you love it. The sixth book is my favorite of the movies and I watch it a lot but I think this is only my second time through the book.

DanteReading Next: I’ve changed my mind again. I went to another bookstore in West Michigan and found another book that I’ve been waiting to read for ages so now I plan to pick up In the Hand of Dante by Nick Tosches which has been on my list since October 2012! I went through a phase when I was obsessed with Dante’s Inferno and this intrigued me because of that. It reminded me of Matthew Pearl’s The Dante Club so I wanted to grab this one.

I love the title The Ice Cream Queen of Orchard Street! I’m always a bit wary when I see that authors have narrated their own books, but glad to hear this one is working out well. So far I haven’t listened to any recorded that way, but I’m sure I’ll come across one at some point.

I was surprised that she was so good at narrating. That’s usually something that makes me skeptical as well. A lot of memoirs are like that but this is my first instance of a fiction title being this way. Happy reading!

This is so interesting! The topic of audiobooks came up at an author panel I attended a few weeks ago. Two of the four authors on the panel said they were unhappy with the audiobook versions of their novels because, they said, the narrators didn’t read the text the way the authors heard it in their heads. Reading this conversation makes me so curious to listen to this book!

Also, here is my reading roundup for this week 🙂 : http://sallyallenbooks.com/2016/06/wednesday-reading-roundup-june-8/

I think that’s why this narrator decided to do her own. The character has a very strong voice that the author would have lost with another narrator. Happy reading!

The Unlikely Disciple sounds like a good read. In the Hand of Dante has so many mixed reviews. There are people who really loved it and and some who just don’t. I don’t know who Dante is but I am intrigued. I always like to read such books that have different reviews. Enjoy your week of reading and all the best with the semester.

Prisoner of Azkaban has always been my favourite Harry Potter but I think that’s because it’s the one where Sirius appears.

I’m really liking the cover of In The Hand of Dante and would probably pick it up on the basis of that alone. I’ve always thought Dante’s Inferno would be kind of hard going so I’ve never attempted it but there are some fascinating ideas in it that make me curious. Will be interested to see what you think.

Emily beat me to it in saying how great the title of The Ice Cream Queen of Orchard Street is! Just that would persuade me to read it 🙂

I am currently operating under a self-imposed book shop and library ban until I have read a few things that have been sitting staring at me for ages. I start with a plan, but then I see something else on the shelf… you know how it goes! In your case, however, it’ll be great to finally read something which has been sitting on your TBR since 2012.

In the Hand of Dante sounds like something I’d love to read 🙂 I’m definitely going to go check it out. At the moment I have Inferno on my TBR in prep for the movie coming out. I’m not the biggest Dan Brown fan, but the books are always diverting. I’m excited because it’s supposed to reference Dante 🙂

I’ll also have to check out The Dante Club.

And my TBR keeps growing… ;P

    Happy Reading 😀

Inferno was good but didn’t have as many Dante references as if hoped for. I’m. It sure if the movie will have more, I didn’t know there was a movie planned! It will make a good one for sure. The Dante Club had a lot more references that I enjoyed. Happy reading!

I really want to read 27 Days to Midnight but I don’t want to be reading YA right now because I’m worried I won’t give it a fair chance since I’m kind of burned out on the whole genre. So I’m putting it off for a few months, but hopefully I’ll get to it before the end of the year. Good luck with your classes!
