1 Feb

Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived here on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Note: For users of Blogspot blogs, I’m unable to comment on your posts as a WordPress blogger unless you’ve enabled Name/URL comments. This is a known WordPress/Blogspot issue. Please consider enabling this to participate more fully in the community.

libraryCurrently reading: I’m getting very close to the end of Misterio de la Guia de Ferrocarriles by Agatha Christie. It takes a lot of effort for me to read it, but I’m getting toward the end and can feel Poirot closing in on the murderer!
No move on Library of Souls by Ransom Riggs. It will likely be until my road trip later this month before we make any headway on this one.
I’m already on the third chapter of The Book of Speculation by Erika Swyler. I was fortunate to have a few lunches to read last week and I got into it. I like it so far but I’m curious to see where Swyler goes with it and why she chose to have a male narrator.

WithoutEndRecently finished: I finished World Without End by Ken Follett after my post went up last Wednesday. I loved it! My review went up Monday. A full 5 out of 5 stars.
I also finished Mrs. Dalloway by Virginia Woolf which was slightly less enjoyable. Many of you thought it might be because I listened to it and I think that’s probably right. Still, it wasn’t one I really enjoyed. 2 out of 5 stars. My review went up yesterday.

I also posted a review for The Birthday Boys by Beryl Bainbridge which went up last Thursday. Not my favorite of Bainbridge’s novels, but still enjoyable and very educational. 3 out of 5 stars.

awayReading Next: I’m so close to starting Is Everyone Hanging Out Without Me? by Mindy Kaling! I can almost feel it haha. I see it on my shelf almost every day and I can’t wait to pull it down and dig in.
I’ll be starting a new audiobook today, Away by Amy Bloom. I put this one on my list because it’s a 1920s era book. I own a copy which I found at a book warehouse but in order to get through my TBR faster, I’m going to listen to it.

Leave a comment with your link and a comment (if you’re so inclined). Take a look at the other participant links in the comments and look at what others are reading.

Have any opinions on these choices?

Until next time, write on.

You can follow me on GoodreadsFacebookTwitterPinterest, and Instagram. I’m available via email at SamAStevensWriter@gmail.com. And as always, feel free to leave a comment!

Glad you loved World Without End – I haven’t read anything by Follett but I might have to after reading your review! It’s a shame you didn’t enjoy Mrs Dalloway – that’s on my TBR but I now feel a bit hesitant about it. Hopefully reading it will be better than listening to it!

Awww, shame about Mrs Dalloway, but I can imagine it must be hard to listen to it as an audiobook. I seem to remember having to reread quite a few sentences to make sure I understood what was going on.
I am taking part this week, so here is my contribution:

    • Sam February 1, 2017 at 1:00 PM #

I wonder if the physical copy would have helped. I was so often confused. Happy Wednesday!

I’ve wanted to read Ken Follet’s ‘Pillars of the Earth’ for forever (I feel like I say this about most books) but I’m forever snowed under the TBR pile. I wish I could listen to audiobooks- I think I’d get through it much quicker too! But I always end up forgetting to pay attention! I’m glad you found a book you loved though!

So many books!!! I’ve always been a one-at-a-time type of reader & audio books just don’t do anything for me. Hope you enjoy the ones you’ve got & have coming up!

Thanks! I’m looking forward to the ones coming up. Happy Wednesday!

I am always amazed every week with how many books you are reading at a time. On my own, I can’t do that. I’ll read something at school with my students and read my own, but that’s as much as I can do these days. Happy reading!

    • Sam February 1, 2017 at 5:28 PM #

I can’t read while I run on the treadmill so I need something to listen to, too. It keeps me from going cray. Happy Wednesday!

  11. faithrivens February 1, 2017 at 8:19 AM #

I really need to read more Folliet especially seeing how much you loved World Without End. I’ve only read Eye of the Needle (which was fantastic) but I do have Pillars of the Earth to read! Maybe this year.
Sorry you didn’t enjoy Mrs. Dalloway, but I hope you can get to Mindy soon!
    Happy Reading 🙂

    • Sam February 1, 2017 at 5:31 PM #

I didn’t read Eye of the Needle but I’ve heard good things. I’m going to stick to the Kingsbridge series for now, especially with a final book coming out this year! Happy Wednesday.

I need to read World Without End still and I want to read his other series. I enjoyed Pillars of the Earth but not enough to jump into another book just yet.
I can’t wait to hear your thoughts on The Book of Speculation as it’s on my TBR for later in the year!
    Here’s my post:

Thanks for setting this up! Super excited. Which Poirot title is this in English out of interest? Are you learning the language or can speak already? Great way to learn a language if so! It’s the ABC Mystery in English. I’ve never read a Poirot mystery before and it’s been really fun. I have a bachelors degree in Spanish so while I do speak it, this is a great way to practice and refresh the language because I don’t use it too often. Happy Wednesday!
