Taking a Book Off My TBR

6 Apr

This winter, I’ve made some serious progress knocking books off of the physical TBR shelf in my house. The more I take off, the more those remaining stick out to me. There’s one I’m tempted to take off.

This book was a giveaway win that’s been languishing for a long time. To be honest, I forgot I entered to win it when I was contacted and notified. It took another few months for the book to get to me and when it did, I didn’t have time to pick it up so it got put on the shelf and ignored. Since then, I’ve looked up reviews on Goodreads and haven’t been too excited about what I saw. The book is long and a lot of the reviews said it had a meandering plot and was hard to follow.

I talked to my husband about this on our last road trip. He offered to read the first chapter for me when he finishes his current book and let me know what he thinks. I’m tempted to ditch it without asking him to read it simply because I don’t think it will maintain my interest.

I have to know, what do you think, Reader?

I’ll let you know as this unfolds. This is a bookie version of a thriller. ๐Ÿ™‚

Until next time, write on.

I have ran into a few books like that, I just end up taking them off my TBR because it just because I have a lot of books I actually want to get to more

Very true! There are many others I’m dying to read so having this on on there is a bit of a deterrent. Thanks for commenting, happy reading!

    That happens to me too.

I forget about books and then don’t have time to read them. If the book isn’t getting great reviews and it is pretty long, I would just move on.

    ENJOY your day.

I think it’s ok to go ahead and take it off. If you’re not feeling it, don’t force it. Use the time to read something you really want to read!

I am in the minority here since I voted to let your husband read the first chapter. I have found a number of books with low ratings/poor reviews that ended up being great reads so sometimes it is good to give a book a try. At the same time, too many books, too little time to dwell on a book that doesnโ€™t appeal to you so either decision will work ๏Š

Thanks for the dissenting opinion! Hubby has volunteered to help me out so we’ll see what he says. Thanks for stopping by.

So many books, so little time… As someone who also has a lot of books she hasn’t read, I feel like it’s okay to take it off. But that could just be my guilt trying to get someone else to come to the dark side. ๐Ÿ™‚

Hahaha the dark side doesn’t seem so bad in this case. Are there cookies? Happy reading!

Read something else. It sounds like you’ll be forcing yourself to read it ad that’s no fun at all.

That’s my thought, too. I asked hubby to read a few pages, but I’m leaning toward a hard no. Thanks for chiming in!
