All right, I need to tell you about me. I figure if you don’t know who I am, you won’t know that everything I say is worth reading.
I was born and raised in Michigan so I use a nasal ‘A’ and say “I know, right?” all too frequently. I pronounce hockey ‘hA-key’ and I’m proud of it. For school I studied in Southern Indiana and earned two degrees: BS in Global Business and BA in Spanish and International Studies.
I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was 14 but never devoted the time to making it happen. Since graduating from school and moving back to Michigan, I’ve starting dedicating time to doing what I’ve always wanted to do. I’ve completed a manuscript for a Young Adult novel and I’m working with some wonderful friends on editing it. I am a NaNoWriMo 2013 Winner (52,872 words in 19 days) and that manuscript is currently undergoing editing-surgery. It’s a long and painful process.
In my personal life, I’m married to a wonderful man who actually has the English degree I pine after. We have two cutie-pie little turtles,Jane and Marty. I work in automotive (see above about being from Michigan) as a recruiter.
That’s about it, I believe. Please leave a comment introducing yourself so we can start a great conversation about writing or life. I look forward to meeting everyone!
Review Ideology
I will try to write a review for every book I read. I’ve been successful in this since starting this blog and I hope to continue with this. After the review posts here, I will also post it to Goodreads. I use their same 5-star system with no partial stars (it’s 2 or 3, no 2.5).
While I try to read ARC or free copies soon after I get them, that is not always the case. I like to read for my book club and my own pleasure in addition to reading emerging authors. Please be kind if I’m slow to get to your book.
If you are looking for a review, please email me and we can talk about when I will have time. I prefer contemporary and historical fiction for adults and YA. I read very little Science Fiction or Romance so please do not contact me with these requests. I only accept physical copies, no eBooks please.

I don’t really get hung up on how people sound when they talk, so we’ll let that go for now. However, I love your blog because I’ve been waiting since about the same age to be a writer and I’m now 67. Don’t wait as long as I have to do something about it!
BTW, I’m linking back to your post on meeting Mitch Albom in my post reviewing The First Phone Call From Heaven. I hope you can take a peek there and also check out my writing blog at Healing by Writing (http://healingbywriting.com).
So glad I found you, or at least glad Zemanta found you for me!

Thank you for the nomination, but I’m going to decline to re-post at this time. I accept blog awards from those I’ve formed a relationship with and this is my first time seeing your blog. It looks like you’re just getting started and I wish you well. I hope we can bond over a shared love of books. Best of luck.

Nice to meet you! I’m also from Michigan and now live in Massachusetts (so I’m a crazy mixture of accents and other weird things). I did NaNoWriMo too but didn’t win because I’m just too slow with writing and revising. I’ll look forward to your book reviews!

Hi Sam! Stumbled onto your blog because of your WWW Wednesday tags. My name is Ryan and am currently in college but will be graduating soon (hopefully not online but who knows…). I won my first Nano during Camp this past April – it was my first time finishing a full-length book (high fantasy, too!), so I was stoked. It’s trash, as first drafts are, but I’m slowly making my way through editing it and working on the second draft. So nice to meet you!

Great to meet you, Ryan! Good luck finishing college in this new environment. Congrats on your NaNo win. I’m hoping my garbage drafts can turn into something readable, too. Good luck with everything.
