Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived here on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Note: For users of Blogspot blogs, I’m unable to comment on your posts as a WordPress blogger unless you’ve enabled Name/URL comments. This is a known WordPress/Blogspot issue. Please consider enabling this to participate more fully in the community.
Currently reading: I’m so sorry to say that I’ve put A Son of the Circus by John Irving aside for a while. I have some book club selections I need to get through first. I have all of the intentions in the world of finishing this one up and it makes me really sad to put it on hold.
I made some moderate progress with Love in the Elephant Tent by Kathleen Cremonesi but I’m wondering where this book is going because I’m 1/3 of the way through and they’re not in the elephant tent anymore! Is there another elephant tent coming?
My drive to work is better with Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim by David Sedaris. I’m about half way through it now and it’s been a good distraction from traffic.
I started reading Tigerman by Nick Harkaway, one of my book club selections. It’s OK but making me miss the Irving. I was at my parent’s cottage this weekend and found some good time to read.
My husband and I started a car-trip audiobook. I hope this one doesn’t take as long as some of our earlier ones! This time it’s Murder on the Orient Express by Agatha Christie. So far, we’re really enjoying it. As much as I have my suspicions about who it could be, I know Poirot will keep me guessing until the end!
I’ve just started Sarah’s Key by Tatiana de Rosnay on audio. I love the cover of this one and saw it as a popular book club pick for a while so I’m interested to see where it goes!
Recently finished: I was able to wrap up Landline by Rainbow Rowell over the holiday weekend! I’m so glad to have finished a book. With all the ones I have in process, I’m not sure how quickly I’ll finish another one, haha. I think I’m only missing Rowell’s novella now before I’ve read all of her work. I plan to have a review for this one up early next week.
No reviews this week but as I said, Landline will be coming next week so there’s one to look forward to!
Reading Next: With so much going on, I don’t really want to think ahead, haha. I do know my next book club selection will be Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance by Rober Pirsig. I could only find a print version of this book so I’ll be reading it in that format after Tigerman.
Leave a comment with your link and a comment (if you’re so inclined). Take a look at the other participant links in the comments and look at what others are reading.
Have any opinions on these choices?
Until next time, write on.

Sounds like you have a good audio on the go there Sam – Murder on the Orient Express is one of my favourite Agatha Christie novels – and you’ve reminded me that I have a copy of Sarah’s Key to read too.

I’m a tiny bit jealous of your ability to get through audio books. They are so convenient for commutes but I can never keep myself engaged to listening. Within a few paragraphs my mind has wandered off to grocery lists and day dreaming.

I’ve never read a Christie but feel like I really should. I thought about getting an audio but they seem to all be full cast rather than someone just reading the book which is what I want.
Did you see Rowell is releasing an illustrated version of her two short stories? I’ve read them but still kinda tempted.

That’s exactly what I’m looking for. I don’t know if it’s a UK or an overdrive thing but pretty much all classics are full cast. I maybe need to try Audible.

I am so jealous of you, going through Murder on the Orient Express for the first time. It was my second Christie and first Poirot and I so loved it. When you get to the denouement, you will see all the clues were there. It’s so carefully crafted! (Also, you picked a good time to read it. A Johnny Depp remake will be released soon, and you never know how much will be given away in promotion leading up to the film release.)
I’ve got a memoir and a thriller this week:

Gotta chip in — my favourite is probably Carry On, but if you’re a big Harry Potter fan, you might find that one annoying. Or it might enhance your enjoyment. It’s hard to tell!

I always recommend reading ‘Fangirl’ before reading Carry On. I think it gives the book context. I’m a big Potter fan and the parallels with Carry On annoyed me at first, but I got past it and really enjoyed the story! I’ve heard it go the other way, though.

Landline has been on my TBR list for over 2 yrs, but it sounds like I should read it this summer! Can’t wait to read your review! Love Agatha Christie…Murder on the Orient Express is a fave 😊 I’ve started doing audio books while driving, and I am still trying to decide how I like it. My mind seems to get distracted and I get frustrated because I can read the physical book faster, but I’d rather read than listen to music, lol. I just need to get used to it I think!

I gave up listening to music a while back to have more audiobook time. When I’m in school, it’s well worth it! Landline is set over Christmas so be ready for that if you make it a summer read! Happy Wednesday!

I’m a college professor and back in school finishing my PhD, so maybe audio books are the way I need to go to get my reading time in!! I really hadn’t thought about that since I just started using them in the past month or so. I’m definitely going to try that in August! Ohhh…a Christmas book might not be bad when it hits 110 degrees! I can imagine snow and 35 degrees, lol! Enjoy your day!

It sounds like audiobooks might give you the story fix you need! 110 is no fun, stay cool! The story has a nice play between winter in LA and winter in Nebraska. Happy reading!

I hope so! I will start stocking up on them for August 🙂 We haven’t quite reached 110 yet, but we will at some point next month, yuck! I think I could do winter in LA…the temps would be nice 🙂
