27 Sep

Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived here on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Note: For users of Blogspot blogs, I’m unable to comment on your posts as a WordPress blogger unless you’ve enabled Name/URL comments. This is a known WordPress/Blogspot issue. Please consider enabling this to participate more fully in the community.

Currently reading: Armada by Ernest Cline is still really fun. It’s an ebook I’m going through quickly which means I’m making time to read it. Yay!
I’ve made good progress with Gold Fame Citrus by Claire Vaye Watkins. I’m ready every night before bed but I’m not going to take this one out of the house because it’s autographed, haha. I’ll probably need another 2-3 weeks to knock it out.
I made good progress on The Other Queen by Philippa Gregory this week. My running is up a lot as I prepare for the Detroit International Half Marathon next month. I had a record week for miles which means a record week for listening time, too! This is a long one, but I think I’ll get through it fast.

Recently finished: Nothing this week, unfortunately. After two last week, it’s not a surprise to me. I did post my review of Still Life by Louise Penny last Thursday. I gave it 4 out of 5 Stars. Please let me know your thoughts!

Reading Next: I plan on Year of Wonder by Geraldine Brooks being my next audiobook as soon as I finish with Gregory. It’s fun to knock out these last historical fiction books for my reading challenge!
My book club met this week and gave me my next physical read, Rules of Civility by Amor Towles. Even more historical fiction! This is going to be fun.

Leave a comment with your link and a comment (if you’re so inclined). Take a look at the other participant links in the comments and look at what others are reading.

Have any opinions on these choices?

Until next time, write on.

I keep hearing people talk about Ernest Cline, I ought to give one of his books a read. Happy reading! Here’s my post for this week:

Ready Player One was amazing, I’d start there. Happy reading!

  4. Nicole @whatadifferenceawordmakes September 27, 2017 at 6:37 AM #

I haven’t read any historical fiction in a while, I’ve only read a couple Phillipa Gregory books but they were great. I like peeking into the past and trying to get a feel for those people!

    Here’s my WWW: https://whatadifferenceawordmakes.wordpress.com/2017/09/27/www-wednesday-27th-september-2017/

Historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. The peek into the past is so fun! I adore Gregory and her Tudor era. Happy reading!

My hubs and I were just talking about Armada this week. He’s listening to the audio book of RPO (a miracle in itself), and he picked Armada off my shelf. He must really be liking his audiobook for him to be considering another! Hooray! Here’s my link (1030 EST) http://ilayreading.com/2017/09/27/www-wednesday-9272017/

    • Sam September 27, 2017 at 11:22 AM #

That’s awesome!! I convinced my husband to read RP1 but I’m not there on Armada yet. Happy reading!

I’ve heard good things about the Phillipa Gregory books. I don’t often read historical fiction but could be a nice change.

She’s great at the era she writes. I’ve enjoyed a lot of her books though historical fiction is one of my favorite genres. Happy Wednesday!

I’m really looking forward to seeing what you think of The Other Queen. I so want it to be one of her really good ones! Rules of Civility is already on my wishlist so once again you can be pioneer and try it out for us all….

I seem to be in a ‘just in time’ phase at the moment. Need to finish Maria in the Moon by Louise Beech so I can write a review for the blog tour tomorrow (yikes!).

So far I like it but it’s not my favorite Gregory book. I’ll look forward to being a pioneer for Rules of Civility! Happy reading.

I actually haven’t heard of any of the books that you have mentioned or even the authors for the most part. The only exception is Ernest Cline. I have a strong desire to get around to “Ready Player One” at some point of my reading, but it will probably be years from now because my TBR is a bit of a massive mess.

Here is my WWW Wednesday post: http://cassiewinters.com/meme-www-wednesday-for-september-27-2017/

    • Sam September 27, 2017 at 6:40 PM #

Ready Player One is set to be a released as a movie next year so if you get a chance to read it sooner the movie won’t give you ideas of the amazing images in the book. I hope you enjoy moving through your massive TBR. Happy Wednesday!

Gold Fame Citrus sounds really interesting. We also try not take our autographed books out as we would hate for them to get damaged 🙂
