Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived here on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Note: For users of Blogspot blogs, I’m unable to comment on your posts as a WordPress blogger unless you’ve enabled Name/URL comments. This is a known WordPress/Blogspot issue. Please consider enabling this to participate more fully in the community.
Currently reading: Nothing new with Lateral Thinking by Edward de Bono. Perseverance.
I really hope I finish A Burnable Book by Bruce Holsinger before midnight tomorrow. It’s the last book I need to finish my 2020 When Are You Reading? Challenge and I don’t want to come up so close!
I’m getting into Hum if You Don’t Know the Words by Bianca Marais more and more and I’m finally vested in the characters. It took a few lazy mornings ready to get into it but I don’t feel much like stopping anymore.
Recently finished: I wrapped up The Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger. My reading buddy and I had our final meeting about it yesterday. It’s nice to finish the year up and finish a book, too. I’m sure we’ll start on another one soon enough. I posted my review yesterday. I didn’t love this one and ended up giving it Three out of Five Stars. Hate me if you want. I think I would have liked it better if I read it as a teenager.
Reading next: I’m still planning on Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie next, I just need to get to it! I’m going to run out of time to finish it, I’m afraid.
I hope to start A Pale View of Hills by Kazuo Ishiguro after I finish Hum. Not in a big rush but I am looking forward to this one.
Leave a comment with your link and comment (if you’re so inclined). Take a look at the other participant links in the comments and look at what others are reading.
Have any opinions on these choices?
Until next time, write on.
You can follow me on Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. I’m available via email at SamAStevensWriter@gmail.com. And as always, feel free to leave a comment!
I am curious about A Pale View of Hills. Enjoy! Here’s MY WWW POST

Very interested to hear your take on Catcher in the Rye. This year, I reread Diary of Anne Frank and To Kill a Mockingbird and liked them better than I did when I was young. But I’ve never read Catcher in the Rye and, frankly, have never been tempted to … except that it’s one of those books that I’ve heard everyone should read. I don’t know if that’s a good enough reason.
This week I’ve got a fascinating biography of a historically dysfunctional couple and a light cozy mystery.
Happy New Year!

Oh! I’m sorry to know you didn’t like The Catcher in the Rye. It’s one of my favorite books. I even liked it more when I re-read it a couple of years ago. 🙂 I want to read Americanah soon, too. Happy new year to you! 🙂

I have to say The Catcher in the Rye has never appealed to me so your review has given me the perfect reason to continue to ignore it 😁

I have never read Catcher in the Rye, despite being a book nerd in high school and an English major in college. It seems to be a book that people either love or hate. Maybe I’ll pick it up one day, but who knows.
Good luck on finishing up your reading challenge! The new year is almost here! I would also like to echo Nikki’s sentiments above and thank you for hosting WWW every week. Sometimes this weekly post is the only one I can do so I definitely appreciate it. 🙂

I have never read Catcher in the Rye. Some people really love it, some don’t and then there are those like me who don’t feel like reading it 😂 Maybe one day, I will feel the urge to read it.
Good luck with the rest of the reading challenge. 2021 is so close! Time is flying by, I hope your 2021 is filled with happiness, good health, and BOOKS! 🙂

I’m with you, I gave The Catcher in the Rye 3/5 stars back when I read it too. I stand by my rating, but I developed a strange fondness for the book that has stuck with me going on three years now. Regardless of my frustrations with the writing style, I empathize with Holden despite himself. Have a great week and a Happy New Year!

I am usually game for a classic but I have had so many people talk about Catcher in the Rye as a life changer that I have studiously avoided it. I’m a bit ridiculous that way! I will check out your review though. How fun to finish a book right at the end of the year though!! Congratulations!

I have always felt like I needed to read The Catcher and The Rye. I had a copy as a child but was too young to read it. I need to go through my box of books from my parent’s, I wonder if it’s still in there. Though I am not sure I’ll read it, I’m well passed my teenage years, ha!
