Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived here on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Note: For users of Blogspot blogs, I’m unable to comment on your posts as a WordPress blogger unless you’ve enabled Name/URL comments. This is a known WordPress/Blogspot issue. Please consider enabling this to participate more fully in the community.
Currently reading: I’m diving back into Splash! by Howard Means (haha). I think I need some fiction right now so this has been a little slow going for me. I’ve gotten to some slightly more modern history which has piqued my interest more so I’m hoping this picks up.
I’m trying to remember to pick up What Makes Us by Rafi Mittlefehldt but sometimes I just need some silence! I did manage to go for a few walks/runs which gave me some time for this story.
I haven’t been good about reading The Perfect Mother by Aimee Malloy instead of scrolling Instagram. I find I’ll be good about reading it for a few days and then forget for a week.
Recently finished: I was able to wrap up Seeing Sideways by Kristin Hersh late last week. It feels really good to finish a book. I also did my review and posted it yesterday so please consider checking that out! I gave it Two out of Five Stars. The big caveat there was that I’m not a fan of Hersh’s music and I think someone who was would have enjoyed it far more. My Reading Buddy and I are meeting tonight to talk through the last section!
Reading next: I’m honestly not sure what my next book format will be. I’m going to keep betting on audio and say that The Magic Barrel by Bernard Malamund is up next.
Leave a comment with your link and comment (if you’re so inclined). Take a look at the other participant links in the comments and look at what others are reading.
Have any opinions on these choices?
Until next time, write on.
You can follow me on Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. I’m available via email at SamAStevensWriter@gmail.com. And as always, feel free to leave a comment!

I enjoyed the review of Seeing Sideways but can see that it would have been quite hard work. Good luck with less scrolling and more reading next week 😃

I’m glad you’re still making progress with Splash even though it is at a crawl (see what I did there?)

I am not familiar with these but wonder if you would appreciate something more upbeat? I recommend Romantic Comedy by Curtis Sittenfeld which is about a writer for a show based on SNL and the crush she develops on a guest star. I am listening to the audio and I don’t want to get out of the car when I get to work.

I totally understand the getting sidetracked by social media. It’s a difficult habit to break. But you got through Seeing Sideways and reviewed it so that’s a big win! I’m still struggling with reviews at the moment…

Splash sounds interesting – albeit a little bit of a niche subject and not gonna lie that somehow makes it more intriguing.

I’m intrigued by Splash – not a subject I’m terribly interested in personally, but it sounds like a good fit for you so I hope it picks up and you are able to enjoy it. Here’s my WWW post: https://reviewsfromthestacks.wordpress.com/2023/08/16/www-wednesday-23-8/
