Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived here on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!
The Three Ws are:
What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?
Note: For users of Blogspot blogs, I’m unable to comment on your posts as a WordPress blogger unless you’ve enabled Name/URL comments. This is a known WordPress/Blogspot issue. Please consider enabling this to participate more fully in the community.
Currently reading: Nothing new with Lateral Thinking by Edward de Bono this week. I might have to find a time I can read a few pages in the morning so I can keep making my way through this one. The lines at the pool are getting shorter so that’s not a good time anymore.
I think this is my last week with Americanah by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie. My 20 minutes in the morning is helping me get through it fast and I’m so glad to finally be in what I feel is the final stretch.
I’ve barely started Mil veces hasta siempre (Turtles All the Way Down) by John Green. I honestly can’t give much of an opinion on it yet but I’m looking forward to anything John Green has written.
Recently finished: My reading buddy and I wrapped up Octavia Butler’s Kindred by Damian Duffy and John Jennings over the weekend. My full thoughts will be up tomorrow (I hope). We’re debating what book to grab next and I’m not really sure what we’re in the mood for, but I don’t think we’ll do another graphic novel . This wasn’t good for a buddy read format because it was hard to take notes and it read so fast that we were meeting twice per week.
Reading next: I’m holding for Writing Young Adult Fiction for Dummies by Deborah Halverson. The mail in my area has been horrible since December and since these are sent via mail to my library, it could be a while before I get my copy.
Leave a comment with your link and comment (if you’re so inclined). Take a look at the other participant links in the comments and look at what others are reading.
Have any opinions on these choices?
Until next time, write on.
You can follow me on Goodreads, Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and Instagram. I’m available via email at SamAStevensWriter@gmail.com. And as always, feel free to leave a comment!
I am curious about Kindred. Enjoy your week and your reading. Here’s MY WWW POST

I’d recommend the novel, I think this lost a lot in adaptation. Happy reading!

I enjoyed reading your thoughts on the experience of reading Kindred as a graphic novel. I can’t say it’s a format that’s ever attracted me.

I’m glad I tried it but I’m not sure how often I’d turn to it instead of a novel. It would probably be fine for a story intended for that medium. Happy reading!

Interested to hear how you feel about Turtles All the Way Down. I’ve had c diff, so even the thought of picking up the book is a little complicated for me.
This week I just finished book #1 in a mystery series and I’m now revisiting a dear old favorite.

As I may have mentioned, I used to work at Wiley which publishes the For Dummies books. They are high quality books and I think my friend Tracy was the editor of the one you mentioned. Good luck with your writing project.

Shame to hear your buddy read of a graphic novel didn’t go quite as you expected, though the points you raise about it make sense. I’d also think there’d be a little less to talk about, since a lot of it is visual action rather than prose. Hope you enjoy your reading!

We had some good dialogue about the pictures which was a nice change. I think we’ll stick to prose from now on though.

I haven’t read a single thing that John Green has written! I’m not sure how I managed it for this long but I have. Any favorites you would recommend?
Yeah for the wait time decreasing but boo for losing your reading time. I hope you find another chunk of time for lateral thinking soon.

I swam competitively from ages 9-18 and I now participate in Masters Swimming so I’m still racing! I used to be a back/breast swimmer. Now infocus on distance, 1000 and mile in the pool. I’ve raced 5K open water and triathlon as well. I adore swimming, it’s so peaceful for me.

Probably will never have a blog but enjoy seeing what people are reading. So many good books to add to list. I’m currently reading Sense and Sensibility for the umpteenth time and reading (again) Who Let the Dogs In by Molly Ivins. Just finished We’re Better Than This by Elijah Cummings. Next up: The Great Influenza by John Barry…Hopefully not the downer it sounds like it could be.
