27 Nov

Welcome to WWW Wednesday! This meme was formerly hosted by MizB at A Daily Rhythm and revived here on Taking on a World of Words. Just answer the three questions below and leave a link to your post in the comments for others to look at. No blog? No problem! Just leave a comment with your responses. Please, take some time to visit the other participants and see what others are reading. So, let’s get to it!IMG_1384-0

The Three Ws are:

What are you currently reading?
What did you recently finish reading?
What do you think you’ll read next?

Note: For users of Blogspot blogs, I’m unable to comment on your posts as a WordPress blogger unless you’ve enabled Name/URL comments. This is a known WordPress/Blogspot issue. Please consider enabling this to participate more fully in the community.

Currently reading: I’ve gotten through very little Wild Ink by Victoria Hanley since I’m away from work and not reading on my lunch. I know this one will take a while so I’m not really worried about it, though. It’s one that’s OK to read in chunks since there’s not a consistent plot I have to worry about.
I think I’ll finish The Maximum Security Book Club by Mikita Brottman pretty soon. I’ve got a few warm-weather runs that helped me get through chunks of it even without commuting for work. It should be done by next week.
I’m enjoying Not Without my Daughter by Betty Mahmoody but I can sense the bias in it very strongly. Of course, I think anyone in Betty’s situation would be incredibly biased so I don’t blame her, but it’s not even thinly veiled. I’m curious to see how this was turned into a movie. I think it will be well done.

Recently finished: Nothing here this week. Not too much of a surprise since I had three last week. I’m sure one or two will find their way here soon.

Reading Next: I still plan on reading The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue by Mackenzi Lee next. And I should be able to start it next week. So I guess not much has changed in my reading world in the past week.

Leave a comment with your link and comment (if you’re so inclined). Take a look at the other participant links in the comments and look at what others are reading.

Have any opinions on these choices?

Until next time, write on.

I haven’t read any of your books, but I think The Maximum Security Book Club and Not Without My Daughter both look absolutely riveting.

Welcome back! I’m enjoying both. I’ve been without nonfiction for a while so it’s a welcome change. Happy reading!

Not without My Daughter sounds more like a thriller is it good? Here’s my link this week https://thesecretlibrarysite.wordpress.com/2019/11/27/www-wednesdays-27-11-19-%f0%9f%93%9a%f0%9f%93%9a%f0%9f%93%9a/

It’s nonfiction. It’s a very gripping story but sometimes I struggle with the storytelling. Happy reading!

I haven’t read Not Without My Daughter but I remember watching the movie and being profoundly moved by a mother’s love and the lengths she went to to protect her daughter, Mahtob. I would love to read Mahtob’s memoir – My Name Is Mahtob.

I hope to watch the movie soon after I finish it. I didn’t know Mahtob had a memoir, too! How fascinating. Happy reading!

I thought Not Without My Daughter was an excellent read. I read it several years ago and have to admit that I didn’t consider the bias factor at the time. I had watched the movie several times before reading the book. After finishing the book I haven’t watched the movie since. The book was far more detailed and complex.

I’m sure a lot of these details will be taken out of the movie so I’m soaking them in while I can. Happy reading!

I guess some weeks are just more eventful than others. The only reason I still completed some things this week is because I was able to pick up some short audiobooks. All the other things I tried to pick up were just not holding my attention. Here’s to a good week of reading! 🙂
